In the spirit of the holiday season, Zulu Alpha Kilo called upon the elves at Thinkingbox to help parents preserve the magic of Santa Claus for their children.

In celebration of the holiday season, Zulu Alpha Kilo called upon the elves at Thinkingbox to create an app that would help parents preserve the magic of Christmas for their children. Kringle is an augmented reality app that allows parents to use their smartphone or tablet to film a 10 second video of their home and add instant magic by choosing one of five Santa video overlay options. To deliver seamless realism, users are able to scale and brighten Santa to make him fit perfectly in the video. Users can then share their ‘Santa-sighting’ amongst friends and family on social media, proving that Santa is indeed real. The app is available on both Apple and Android platforms and also provides users with the opportunity to make a charitable donation to Make-A-Wish Canada in the essence of keeping childhood dreams alive.

Our workshop developed and designed a wondrous AR app featuring old Saint Nick himself, and a chance to donate to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

With the Kringl app, users recorded a 10-second video inside their home, then selected one of 5 Santa video overlays to create video "proof" of a visit from the Jolly Old Elf to share with their kids.

The Kringl app received a number of awards, including a silver Promo Award for Most Innovative Idea or Concept, an FWA award for Mobile Site of The Day, and a Webby Award for Augmented Reality.
